Aljur joins ‘Amaya’

“That’s right!” says Aljur. “We officially received word from the management that the character I’ll breathe life to will be in the program until it wraps up this December. I’m thankful for the opportunity. Apart from being part of a widely followed show, it’s also a privilege to work with Marian. It’s our first time to be paired on screen so it’s exciting!”
Since Amaya is a period project, it is expected that he’ll also be wearing the same sexy costume just like the rest of the male cast.
“Yes! It’s no issue with me. Remember in my last prime time show Machete, I wore a similar get-up? It’s good that my body is in top shape, and I intend to keep it that way. Since I achieved this physique, more avenues of opportunities opened for me.”
Just like the recent Cosmo bash where he was one of the most applauded male celebrities who hit the ramp topless with his abs exposed?
“Actually, I was there to represent Century Tuna, which I endorse and was one of the event’s main sponsors. I wasn’t really part of the official line-up. I was overwhelmed by the crowd’s very warm reception of me when it was my turn to walk on the ramp. It was very encouraging.
“Considering that it was already my third time to grace their annual event, the loud cheering and applause I received was nevertheless, the same. My first time to participate in the Cosmo bash, I did the opening. The second time, I was part of the main line-up. It’s always a pleasure to join their show,” Aljur states.
His next grand soap for GMA will reunite him with Ilumina leading lady Rhian Ramos. They are also scheduled to top-bill GMA Films’ Valentine offering next year along with Bela Padilla.
“Yes, I heard that! This early, I’m excited. Ilumina was such a big hit. I hope that Rhian and I will be able to duplicate its success. Our movie with Bela is also something to look forward to since it’s a fresh combination!”
Apart from acting, the handsome lad is also busy with his singing career. He’s still promoting his maiden album but is releasing a follow-up soon.
“Oh yes! In fact, I’m in the thick of my promo tour at this point. The latest was during my grand fans’ day at the Trinoma Mall where I sang some cuts from my maiden album. I was so happy performing for my avid fans.
“It was also the first time that I sang the carrier single of my soon-to-be released album, a revival of the Richard Reynoso classic “Hindi Ko Kaya.” The audience’s reception was very warm. From there, I can gauge that it will become a hit. Well, it’s not surprising because the said ditty has instant recall among listeners.”
His career still on the upswing, the popular matinee idol assures that he’ll remain loyal to his mother studio during these times when network switching is rampant among stars.
“Why would I do that? I’m well-taken cared of in GMA. I started with them. In fact, I’m renewing my contract as a Kapuso next year,” ends Aljur.
