Gay role for Dingdong Dantes?

Tempo

GOING GAY – Dingdong Dantes was quoted as saying he’s ready to do a gay role.
Can’t imagine the dignified Mr. Dantes acting like, say, Roderick Paulate or John Lapus or Vice Ganda.
If Dingdong must accept a gay character it’s got to be subdued, low-keyed. No flaming and screaming faggot, please.

* DRAMA – John Lloyd Cruz and Luis Manzano in “In My Life” comes to mind. They play gay lovers in the drama set in New York, very convincing and even sympathetic as the actors did the parts with respect and sincerity.

Another drama with gay theme is “Ashite Imasu,” with World War II backdrop. Dennis Trillo is the crossdresser and Jay Manalo the Japanese officer who fell in love with each other.

In the ’70s, Eddie Garcia played a closet queen-family man in “Tubog sa Ginto,” with Mario O’Hara as the object of his affection. It ended in tragedy.

* COMEDY – Now, if it’s comedy, there’s “Pusong Manon,” topbilled by Albert Martinez and Eric Quizon.
Or “Happy Hearts” with Rustom Padilla and Wendell Ramos as lovers. It was shot before Rustom “died” and “resurrected” as BB Gandanghari.

Heard that BB wrote a script of a gay love story based on his own experiences. But no names now. Too explosive.

Has Dingdong Dantes seen any of those gay-themed movies?

* POLITICS – Aside from doing a gay role, Dingdong should by all means consider public service when the right time comes.

Why not start as Quezon City councilor? From there consider running for vice mayor, mayor, congressman. Or even senator.

Dingdong is engaged in several NGO projects and the next logical step is running for a public position.
Go for it, Mr. Dantes.

Other potential public servants from showbiz include Ogie Alcasid, Sharon Cuneta, Aga Muhlach, Ronnie Ricketts, Grace Poe-Llamanzares, Chris Tiu, Boy Abunda, Ai-Ai de las Alas.

Sharon has repeatedly said that she’s not interested. But then that’s what Vilma Santos used to say. But look at her now.
