Ogie Alcasid goes dramatic

Mario Bautista
Ogie Alcasid is the busiest actor-singer at GMA now. Sundays, he works on two shows, “Party Pilipinas” and “Protege.”  Friday, he’s in “Bubble Gang.”  Starting Monday, he’ll be seen daily in “Daldalita” that replaces “Futbolilits” before “24 Oras.”

This Sunday night, he even has a musical special to be shown at Sunday Night Box Office, “Where Love Reigns,” taped at the Newport Performing Arts Theatre at Resorts World where he sings his hits like “Nandito Ako,” “Sa Kanya,” and many more. Joining him are good friends in Organisasyon ng Pilipinong Mang-aawit (OPM, where he’s the current prexy) Noel Cabangon, Dingdong Avanzado and Mitch Valdes with whom he does a nostalgic 70s hits number; ‘Party Pilipinas’ colleagues Janno Gibbs, Kyla, Frencheska Farr, La Diva and Jaya with whom he does a medley of the best OPM hit songs. Also guesting are Derrick Monasterio, Solenn Heussaff, and the Wonder Boys of Bubble Gang: Michael V, Antonio Aquitania and Dos Quizon. But his most special guest is none other than preggy wife, Regine Velasquez.

In “Daldalita”, Ogie is shown crying in a number of dramatic scenes. We kidded him that he’s using Eye Mo. “Hoy, hindi, a,” he says. “Real tears 'yun. My wife in the story, played by Donna Cruz died in that scene. I told Manilyn Reynes, who plays her sister, siya na lang ang umiyak. Nagulat ako nang pati ako, nadala sa eksena and I also cried.”

How’s Donna? “She’s great. Obviously, na-miss niya ang acting. Her husband, Yong Larrazabal, gave his permission for her to act again only because ako raw ‘yung kapareha. She shot with us in Taal, Batangas and slept there for one night then the next day, bumalik na siya uli sa kanila sa Cebu.”
